Djokovic was seeking a record-equalling sixth title at the event but was stopped by the talented 21-year-old.

Zverev is highly rated by many players and pundits and it looks like he is now ready to step up and challenge for the big tournaments.

Djokovic said:

There’s a lot of similarities in terms of trajectory of professional tennis, in our careers. Hopefully, he can surpass me. I sincerely wish him that.

He seems like someone that is very dedicated. Without a doubt, he’s a really nice person, someone that gets along very well with everyone. He deserves everything he gets so far. There’s a lot of time ahead of him.

Zverev becomes the youngest champion of the ATP Finals in ten years and will take confidence from this win into the future.
