Nick Kyrgios’ return to tennis has been delayed after he withdrew from Indian Wells with an elbow injury, ESPN report.
The world number 20 was set to return at Indian Wells this weekend, however, a recurrence of the injury will keep him sidelined for an extended period.
Kyrgios hasn’t played competitively since suffering the original injury during a Davis Cup tie last month.
His last match on the ATP Tour was in the Australian Open fourth round, where he lost to Grigor Dimitrov, however, he has picked up a trophy this year after winning the Brisbane Open.
It isn’t the first time Kyrgios has been forced to pull out of Indian Wells either. Last year, he defeated Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev, but had to pull out through injury before he was set to face Roger Federer.
Matteo Berrettini will replace Kyrgios in this years tournament and will face off against Daniil Medvedev in the first round.
