Federer makes best start to a season by reaching Indian Wells final
Roger Federer made his best ever start to a season after a tight victory over unseeded Borna Coric to keep his bid for a record sixth Indian Wells title alive, BBC report.
Federer ensured he would remain world number one after victory in the quarter-final, and again showed his champion qualities with a career best 17th straight win on Saturday.
It didn’t go all Federer’s way however, as he had to survive a scare from Coric. The world number one was forced to fight back from a set and a break down to edge out the young Croat 5-7 6-4 6-4.
He will now face Argentina’s Juan Martin del Potro in the final on Sunday after the sixth seed’s dominant 6-2 6-3 display over Canada’s Milos Raonic.
Federer’s statistics this year make for impressive reading. He has won 39 of 43 sets and has claimed titles at the Australian Open and the ATP event at Rotterdam, and will be looking to add the Indian Wells to that list come Sunday evening.
