Johanna Konta and Heather Watson starred for Great Britain as they defeated Hungary to reach the Fed Cup World Group II play-off, Sky Sports report.
World number 11 Konta broke opponent Fanny Stollar’s serve five times in a routine 6-3 6-1 win to give her country an unassailable 2-0 lead, meaning there was no need to play the doubles fixtures.
Earlier in the day, teammate Watson had to come from a set down to defeat Dalma Galfi 3-6 6-1 6-4.
The victory means the side are just one step away from the tournament’s elite for only the fourth time in the last seven years.
Great Britain will find out on Tuesday who they will face in April. The rankings, which are due to be updated on Monday, will determine whether they are seeded or not.
The draw will also decide which team plays at home, something Britain have not done since 1993.
